From left to right: Socialism, Greek aristocrats, Priests.
The Greeks had many different jobs for men, but not so many for women. The Greeks also had many different governments, with different systems, such as monarchies, oligarchies, tyrannies, democracies. They had different systems due to the many city states in Ancient Greece. Men generally had a more public and dominant role than women. They were engaged in public speaking and politics, while women were encouraged to stay in the home. Farming was a large part of Greek social organisation. Most of the farmed land was owned by the rich and worked by the poor. Slavery was a part of everyday life in Ancient Greece, and the rich would frown upon the poor and those who worked for other people . Greek social organisation was mainly based on socialism (classes). Some
classes were superior to the other, while some inferior. The superior classes
had special rights and benefits that the lower classes did not enjoy. There
were four classes- Athens, Metics, Freedmen, and Slaves, all of which will be
explained later on.
